Accommodation Australia’s Stacey McBride hopeful Western Sydney events boost ‘leads to more investment’

Business Events Sydney’s new $50,000 funding offer for events held in Western Sydney has been welcomed by Accommodation Australia NSW.

The initiative aims to deliver more national business events to Western Sydney positioning it as competitive destination to help spread economic benefits across the city and support local venues and suppliers. Under the new scheme, eligible events held in the region may access funding of up to $50,000 per event.

“It’s encouraging to see targeted investment aimed at attracting more business events into Western Sydney,” Accommodation Australia NSW General Manager, Stacey McBride said.

“Business events are a key driver of occupancy outside peak leisure periods and play an important role in building demand across the accommodation and broader hospitality sector.”

McBride said attracting business events and conferences to Western Sydney makes sense with the Western Sydney Airport due to open soon.

“With the first passenger flights landing in October 2026 now is the perfect time for growth and expansion,” she said.

“We know that conferences and events lead to more international tourists overall.

“Investing in this area builds confidence and leads to more investment which eventually means more secure jobs in tourism and the accommodation sectors.”
